Numerical Modelling on CO2 Storage Capacity in Depleted Gas Reservoirs

چکیده

Making an accurate estimate of the CO2 storage capacity before commencement a carbon capture and (CCS) project is crucial to design feasibility investigation. We present herein numerical modelling study on in depleted gas reservoirs. First, we show simple volumetric equation that gives reservoir, which considers same volume CH4 at reservoir pressure temperature conditions produced from reservoir. Next, validity limitations this are investigated using simulation with various characteristics heterogeneity, aquifer water encroachment, rock compaction its reversibility. Regardless if subjected weak or moderate support, provides as structurally trapped within 1% estimated simulations. The most significant factor influencing reversibility compaction, rather than degree compaction. If rocks have strong hysteresis their expansion behaviour, material balance will overestimate amount structural trapping. All results fairly consistent dissolved component water, 15∼17% CO2. Overall, our presents limitation for estimating capacity, helps designing CCS early stage.

CO2 Storage Capacity for Multi-Well Pads Scheme in Depleted Shale Gas Reservoirs

As a promising technology to improve shale gas (SG) recovery and CO2 storage capacity, the multi-well pads (MWPs) scheme has gained more and more attention. The semi-analytical pressure-buildup method has been used to estimate CO2 storage capacity. It focuses on single multi-fractured horizontal wells (SMFHWs) and does not consider multi-well pressure interference (MWPI) induced by the MWPs sch...

CO2 EOR and Storage in Oil Reservoirs

CO2 EOR and Storage in Oil Reservoirs — CO2 injection into tertiary oil reservoirs has been widely accepted as an effective technique for enhanced oil recovery (EOR), and has been used by the oil industry for over 40 years. Concerns over greenhouse gas emissions are leading to the investigation and realisation of its potential as a carbon storage method in recent years. With the right reservoir...

Carbon Dioxide Storage in Natural Gas Reservoirs

Carbon Dioxide Storage in Natural Gas Reservoir — The general idea of CO2 disposal in gas reservoirs is that the underground volume of the ultimately recoverable hydrocarbons (gas and condensate) is replaced by CO2. This paper investigates the feasibility of carbon dioxide disposal in depleted gas reservoirs. Gas reservoirs are a practical storage site for the carbon dioxide, because the presen...

Investigation of Underground Gas Storage in a Partially Depleted Naturally Fractured Gas Reservoir

In this work, studies of underground gas storage (UGS) were performed on a partially depleted, naturally fractured gas reservoir through compositional simulation. Reservoir dynamic model was calibrated by history matching of about 20 years of researvoir production. Effects of fracture parameters, i.e. fracture shape factor, fracture permeability and porosity were studied. Results show...

Safe storage and effective monitoring of CO2 in depleted gas fields.

Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is vital to reduce CO(2) emissions to the atmosphere, potentially providing 20% of the needed reductions in global emissions. Research and demonstration projects are important to increase scientific understanding of CCS, and making processes and results widely available helps to reduce public concerns, which may otherwise block this technology. The Otway Project...
